Do you feel like you are always running out of time? Read this.

Hello Sunshines,

Do you find yourself saying things like:

“I don’t have enough time to go to yoga/ eat mindfully/ go on a date/ have fun.”

“If I only had more time, I wouldn’t have this problem.”

“I hate always running late and rushing around, but that’s just how life is.”

Ahhh the good old struggle with time. I totally know what that feels like: constantly eyeing the clock, speed-walking, inhaling your food, checking your email and phone obsessively. I also happen to know from personal experiences that for most of us, the first thing that goes out the window when time seems short is the self-care stuff, the fun things, the romance and the adventure. And, let’s be honest, that sucks. After all, we want to work to live; not live to work.

How to deal with the seemingly constant shortness of time is something I have had to learn more than once in my life. This past weekend, I was given another reminder and a new powerful mindset change for my relationship with time.

As I mentioned last week, I spent this past weekend at a retreat, called Live Free in Sonoma, CA. The retreat was beautifully curated by two superstar ladies in the coaching world: Sarah Jenks and Nisha Moodley. The retreat was a gift from my mom for my 30th birthday, so it felt extra special to me. The whole weekend was filled with so much love, support, and inspiration around topics like businesses, adventure, our love-lives, and body image. There is so much I could write about today, but the one overarching principle that really stuck with me as a core lesson is this:

You are the owner of your own time.

Or, how Sarah and Nisha further clarified: You are the CEO of your own life.

everyday I'm hustling

everyday I'm hustling

The reason this is such a powerful message is because we often feel like our schedules are running our lives and that we are just like little hamsters running in the always-spinning wheel. Well, we are not hamsters and the wheel is only spinning if we choose to let it spin.

Perhaps Beverly Adamo said it more elegantly, when she said:

“It’s not about time, it’s about choices. How are you spending your choices?”

In today’s blogpost I really want to encourage you to think about how you are choosing to spend you time.

  • When do you choose to say “yes” when you really want to say “no”?
  • When are you choosing to put importance on something that is irrelevant?
  • When are you choosing to do things yourself when you could delegate them to someone else?
  • When are you choosing to not ask for the help you need?
  • When are you choosing to make your endless to-do-list more important than your own health, your happiness, your children, your husband or wife?

I really want to encourage you to take a deep breath, take a mental step back and re-consider how you can be a better owner of your time and a better CEO of your life. Are you sustainable?

In the comments below, I would love to hear your thoughts. What are you neglecting? What do you need to say “no” to? What do you need to say “yes” to?

P.S.: I have been having some amazing break-through sessions with the women who won a free Overcoming Overwhelm session from last week's call. If this topic of time-management is something you struggle with, I would love to invite you for a free 30-minute consultation to see what’s going on for you and how I can help you live your life to the fullest.
